Horn only works with no key
I'm looking to purchase a 2004 S, the PPI revealed this problem:
"Horn only works with key removed, possible bad ground in column." I searched the forums and found this post which sounds very similar. Checking in to see if anyone else has experience with this- thanks in advance. Scott |
For archiving sake:
UPDATE: diagnosis revealed it was indeed the clockspring that needed to be replaced to solve the horn problem. |
I had the exact problem with my 2000S. I replaced the clockspring and the problem went away. If I hadn't been provided the part with the car, I probably would have tried to repair the original part. I read a couple threads on a 996 forum that said a short occurs in the ground wire about half an inch from the terminal.
