I just found I have a torn CV boot. I will be replacing the 2 inner boots next weekend. Should I bother replacing the CV joints? Or would I be ok just replacing the boots and cleaning and packing the joints?

If you are going to the trouble of pulling them off to replace the boots, throw a set of new joints on as it's not that hard and a good PM on the car.

It's certainly easier, and less messy to just replace the axle assembly, but likely an unnecessary expense. I've replaced the boots on my Toyota 4x4 many times, and the CV's are still fine @ 185,000 miles. Ditto for the '94 Integra I had.
