Dead Windows

2001 Boxster S - 23,827 miles.

I have searched and read all posting of problem similar to mine. Since the parts are $$$, I just want to be sure before I proceed. I am handy with voltmeter and tools.

My issue is the passenger window does not move down at all, totally dead, even when I open or close the top. The top and driver window are working. I changed the switch from the passenger to driver and the driver window works, thus eliminating bad switch.

From postings, if the passenger window does not move down ½ - 1” when it is pushed or when the top moves up and down, it is NOT the regulator. It is the motor. Is this still correct?

Last but not least, where is the best place to purchase window motor?

Thanks for your help.

you didn't say how it became inoperable.
if you have not, you may want to disconnect the battery to reset the electronics. maybe the window logic is lost. just a thought

looking at the wiring diagram, there's only one fuse for both windows. so if the driver's side is good, then the fuse is OK

You hit in the nail!!!!
The car has not been driven in over 2 years. Battery was completely dead. Could not even jump start the car.

Bought new battery. DID not go through "reset the electronics…." Just put in new battery and drove. But driver side is working.

May I know how to "reset the electronics…"?

Thanks so much

just disconnecting the battery does the reset.
if your car has not been driven in 2 years, the brushes on the motor may have gotten "rusty" and thereby no connection. in this case the only solution maybe to purchase replacement motor. I don't know of any way to "WIGGLE" the motor by forcing the window down or up.
I've not touch the window motor, have tighten the window regul, ator slack.
sorry, I'm at a dead end.

Ooh Ooh. I took the negative of the battery for 3 minutes. As soon as I place the negative back, loud loud loud noise from the rear trunk lock. That ceased as soon as I insert the key.

The rear trunk works fine. But that loud noise was a concern.

Now the driver side window does not go down when I use the latch. Thus the top of the window hits the convertible top. However, unlike the passenger side, I can push it down 1/4" and the window does work.

Any idea? Thanks
