another 996 plenum and tb question

Ok guys,

i have another question regarding the 996 plenum and tb question

i currently have a 996 c4 3.6l 996 plenum and tb in my shop.

current size is 74mm,

is it a direct bolt-on to a stock 3.2l motor?

or i need to buy reducers hoses?

would you invest more and go to a 76mm size?

im currently running straight pipe, except i still have the stock headers(cats)

has anyone been running a bigger straight pipe system?

i cant remember the size of the stock piping but, would there be any benefice to go to 1.5in instead of 1in? numbers for reference only

thanks

You can stretch your rubber hose couplers over and they provide a better fit than the reducers I tried. I used 83mm from MAF to TB. http://www.boxa.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=53075&page=9

Boxster T/B = 68mm

996 C2 T/B = 74,75,76mm depending on who is measuring.

996GT3 T/B = 83mm

Boxster muffler inlet = 1.5" so that should be your pipe size.

thanks guys,
so i will just go with the 996 c2 plenum and tb

can i increase the size piping to 1 3/4" or even 2" ? would it gives any power gains? or i just leave the stock piping at 1.5" and only upgrade to 996 plenum and tb ?

You always work on the weakest link. If your muffler inlet is 1.5" there is no need to go bigger upstream. To my knowledge Fabspeed is the only muffler with a bigger inlet (2") & they include the secondary pipes (2")

why not putting a bigger exhaust size?

you had more air to the engine

im still using the stock headers with cats, but after that, im straight pipe.

from the 3 bolts flanges, i would run a bigger straight pipe ie 2'' instead on the stock piping size

????
