I'd like to point out that it's always best to add blocking UNDER jack stands, this to keep the neck inside their frame, for safety sake! It's best to do this after the car's at final height and level.

I've cut up 2x8's into 1' lengths, stacked and nailed them together. I place them under the jack stands and thereby keep the neck safely inside the frame. It's more stable and looks safer too. Why stick your neck out when you don't have too?

Any kind of backup is not only smart, but confidence-inspiring. Used to employ a squat log or two, but they can be quite heavy to move around.

I have two floor jacks and keep them in-place for additional precaution.
