Question Wind Deflector Detaching @ Speed?

Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem -- I've run into this a couple of times now.

I'm running along w/top down at 90+ MPH (let's assume on the track... yeah, that's my story ) and I start to hear a slight tapping/rattle from behind my head. Look in the rear view mirror to find one of the two clips for the cockpit wind deflector has come loose and that corner is bouncing back and forth like it is about to launch off into space!

Quickly slow down, reach back and snap it into place and then everything's fine.

Nothing appears to be broken or mis-installed with the clips, etc. but the problem still shows up every once in a while. Is this common?

Mine is secure but rattles like crazy...and doesn't "feel" secure. I think it is faulty design. For the $300 or so they charge for the part, those clips should be real aluminum, not plastic.

That should not happen unless it was not locked in properly, or you have a broken clip. I have replace the clips on the windstop and the mating clip on the roll bar. Sometimes it is hard to tell if they are broken. Jeff

I had one clip that I broke by accident, though looking at it you really couldn't tell unless you knew what to look for. That made the windstop rattle a lot and I almost lost it once. Then I had the broken clip replaced by the dealer and now it is very solid again. Still rattles a bit, but not much. Should have the other side done as well, then it would really be in there solidly. No danger of it popping out now, but I think a new clip on the other side would elliminate most of the slight rattle it has (not annoying though).
