Camshaft Timing Question

Had custom camshafts done, and the builder popped these timing wheels off the end of the camshaft, but didn't mark how they go back. I have one picture of the 4,5,6 side. Can anyone either provide a picture of the 1,2,3 side, or confirm it is a mirror opposite in orientation. This is off a 2003 2.7 Boxster. I'll take any other year models that utilize this same wheel for the Variocam-Plus feature. Thanks, Erik |

That cam grinder needs to be taken out back and whooped! The reluctor wheel must be positioned within a few tenths of a degree. I'd not even want to try to reallocate those reluctor wheels. You'll have to try to use another cam thats untouched to create a jig to carry out this procedure. Its bad enough when the teeth are bent or twisted. |

I agree with your assessment. Using the photo, and the head as test jig, when I position the reluctor wheel at the point that looks correct and place it back in the head and put the cam locking tool on it, it appears that the edge opposite the number "0" is dead parallel with the top of the head.
