so are you saying the spring rate slowly drops and this causes a similar drop in ride height
The OE springs drop in spring rate over time and they sag. It ends up lower than it was stock. If you are lucky, the springs sag at the same time/same amount!!

I'd still like to see pics of your toe links and the inside adjusters!!

Something is not right.. and without seeing it, I can not figure it out.

Just hold your phone under the car and start snapping away in the general direction of the toe link!! then post the ones that turned out!!

Brad Roberts 07-26-2013 04:10 PM

When we install the solid bushings, we have to heat up the end of the toe link to press them in. It takes nearly NO pressure to press them out.

so the left is wrong and the right is right- to me it seems the only diff is which end has the nut and which has the bolt head... the throw's the same and there's washers (eccentrics) on either side of the frame, either way- am I missing something?

Brad Roberts 07-26-2013 06:21 PM

I believe the rear of the suspension hanger is different where the eccentric sits.

Brad Roberts 07-26-2013 06:22 PM

Can you run a tape measure from ground to the fender lip in the rear?

Metric is fine :)

Measure through the axle centerline.

Brad Roberts 07-26-2013 06:23 PM

How smart are the alignment guy's? If they are trying to adjust toe by twisting the nut.. they will never get there.

Brad Roberts 07-26-2013 06:27 PM

and.. if they where smart?? they would have told you the adjustment's where flipped side to side

woodsman 07-26-2013 06:27 PM

one moment please...

The car in my pic is 26.5 (and you can see the adjuster)

I have another car in the shop at 25.0 (and it had to have the rear toe links)

I don't think they tried adjusting it as it was set at max toe-out already

Brad Roberts 07-26-2013 06:37 PM

any idea why there is such a huge difference side to side??

I measure 3 Boxsters in the shop.. the 3rd one is 26.25 both sides

Brad Roberts 07-26-2013 06:39 PM

Pull it out, install it correctly.

Do you know how to string a car?

woodsman 07-26-2013 06:43 PM

does that car have 265/35/18 and is the adjust. halfway between min and max travel?

I just moved the car and it's now L 25.938 R 26 = 1/16"diff
Can other cars have zero toe and -2 cam meaning is the cam the real problem?

Brad Roberts 07-27-2013 10:25 AM

The car in my pic above is on 265/35/18 Toyo's.

Brad Roberts 07-27-2013 10:28 AM

I'd prefer not trying to explain how to string a car here online (it's straight forward) I just dont have time today to write it up.

To set toe like this, you only need four jack stands, tape measure (I use steel rules) and string (I use fishing line/on reels)

I remember seeing an article about it years ago but I didn't read it! I don't mind paying for one FINAL align but I have to be at peace with the final solution., first.

Brad Roberts 07-27-2013 12:04 PM

For the rear, we *could* use just toe plates humm..

woodsman 07-27-2013 12:11 PM

what are 'toe-plates'?

Mine is a road car only. I am no racing driver but would say I am fairly competent. I would describe the handling as neutral to rear led. I'm not worried about the front end washing out unless I go too fast into a hairpin type corner, how many of those do you see every day? The rear keeps it interesting though and at first it took a short while to adjust to the need to keep your foot in as it all books up so much better when on the throttle.

I have no idea what roads are like where you are but I do most of my driving on what are known as B roads which are typically narrow, twisty and a bit bumpy. The steering reacts even quicker than it used to and doesn't track the road cambers too much.

Brad Roberts 07-27-2013 03:57 PM

Woodsman,

Toe plates: The only issue with making some or using these? No way to get the thrust angle correct (think dog tracking)

Aligning the Supersport - YouTube

I worked for Jackson and with Eric back in our Grand Am Nissan 350Z days (The Playboy cars)

I promise this video will teach you everything you need to know about performing your own alignment. Instead of using the smart strings, you can use jack stands to "make the box" around the car.

ah thanks for that Brad! I'll check it out. I think I'm going to pull the eccentrics out and inspect them- the camber ones wouldn't spin all the way around in both directions on either side but they'd max out IN or OUT so I didn't worry about it.

woodsman 08-16-2013 02:31 PM

UPDATE; The eccentrics seem fine so I bought and installed Speedpro's adjustable toe rod bars. Car then was aligned without any probs and all is good to go. The rear suspension on these cars have a narrow range of adjustment. 5/8" beyond standard (Porsche offered) and you're in a heap of trouble! They are engineered to the nth degree!
