Annual maintenance 01 Boxster S
Hello everyone,
I'd love to get some details about the annual maintenance for my car, I live in Israel, and not reliant on the knowledge the garages here in my country has, so any kind of information, from the oil type, and parts that important to check….
I have a 01 Boxster S, bought last year at 135K kilometers (85K miles) and currently stands at 145K (90K miles)
So I read a bit and saw that there is something called IMS (still have no idea what it is but I realized it is very important to maintenance), and not really possible to know if it is in the last stages of his life, unless taking it apart and examine the condition (also little piece of metal in the oil filter can indicate it need to be replace as I read)
So I will be happy to hear, get tips, what type of oil do you recommend, what parts must to be replaced, and what is recommended?
Thank you
Eli

All of this information is readily available within this forum already for anyone motivated to look for it. When I first found this forum I spent many evenings reading posts going back months, and I used the search function to find information on areas of specific interest. I try not to ask unless I'm really stuck.
Start reading, use search, and that will help you to avoid asking questions that have already been answered countless times. Before you know it, you'll be posting more answers than questions.

Cliff Notes version
Water pump, use only Porsche part. Use only porsche coolant. Do the motor mount at the Same time as doing both makes each one very easy.
Change Gear oil, use only Porsche oil.
Flush brake fluid. Any dot 4 works.
Change oi every 3-5 k miles. Any P approved oil is ok for street. Mobil 1 is standard oil. Do a search for years of navel gazing about oil pros and cons.
Flush power steering fluid, use only P approved oil. Do search on procedure for changing.
IMSB - you probably have the single row which has an 8-10% chance of failure, so do you feel lucky? If not, replace it now, or wait until it needs a clutch and get it done then, but if it were me,l i would would do it eventually. Again, do a search on imsb on this and other sites and you will have years of reading.
Welcome!

Thanks for the replays,
I tried to look for it here in the forum, but had some problems with the search words,
How do you call the 10k kilometer (5k mile) care/treatment?
Is there a word for it? Or it called maintenance?
Thanks
Eli

^ If you have a Google Smartphone or tablet I would recommend buying 101 Projects for your Porsche Boxster, it's a digital manual. It may be available on Apple Iphone/Ipad but I don't use any of that.
Or you can buy it for your Laptop and PC by going to Google Books and you can access it wherever you have an internet connection.
The book lists prices of parts and estimated labor hours for each common and major repairs.
From oil change to shocks to IMS/clutch to top replacement, it's all covered.
