Exhaust for Base Boxster

I just purchased a 2003 Base Boxster and am looking at axle back exhausts under $500. I see a number on ebay by brands like OBX, M2, as well as comments on this forum on Top Speed. I want something that my muffler pro can easily install that gives me a nice throaty sound at low speeds, but no drone on the freeway. Anyone have good experiences with one brand that you can recommend?

I have had B & B's on my base for almost a decade now. Drone is subjective, but the sound is incredible, very original (imo, the sound fit somewhere in between a Box and 911), still gets a lot of lookers even for an 11 year old car.

They go for higher than your budget price new, but look for a used set in your price range. Hope this helps.

Exhaust

Thanks for the feedback. I am new to this. When you say "charlie chan" are you referring to the general, low priced models as a whole? I looked at this discussion and the name I got was Top Speed. Am I on the right track?

"Charlie Chan" is a moniker that we came up with to describe the slew of good quality, low cost Taiwanese made catback exhausts that proliferate the eBay scene. Top Speed is just one of several parallel brands.

I just put an eBay catback on my car. Cost me 45 bucks to have it installed, looks great, fits great and drones like a swarm of killer bees...not the best. But I have headers so who knows.

TGH; thanks for confirming my suspicions!
Do you guys thing that something like this could help reduce drone?
Dynatech 772-32520 Dynatech Vortex Insert Cones
since it creates friction, the slower you go the less db reduction it gives.

Im thinking of building a custom borla exhaust, buying some of the universal mufflers, some free floe cats, and the ebay headers. cheaper than the 1100 borla wants for the system lol!
sry if im threadjacking
