Aftermarket exhaust question

I already have the ebay headers on my boxster and just ordered the cheapo ebay exhaust. I have a welder, grinder etc so I'm not too worried about fit but I'm wondering if I should go ahead and buy the cat delete as well. Is anyone running the ebay header and exhaust combo? How loud is it? How much better does it sound with the cats deleted? I only use the car on the weekends so its not going to bug me everyday.

Also anyone know how much lighter the ebay exhaust is then the stock one? The stock unit has got to be 75lbs.

Do you plan on getting a ROW flash, or just putting a piece of electrical tape over the check engine light?

Yo gear head, I'm in RVA almost everyday, and my car is headers/100 cell cats/Borla. I'm happy to meet up and let you hear what the combo sounds like. It's loud.

In a moment of weakness I had a shop install the exhaust. They charged 45 bucks and I'm glad I did it! It was a ******************** getting it to line up straight but it finally did. It's still very quite and does him a bit on the highway. I think I'm going to go for the cat delete next and see how that works out. Definitely a good upgrade for the weight saving alone.

J. Fro, I keep seeing Richmond in your info I need to check out your car one day. I'll be at the cars n coffee this Sunday if your around

It sounds a little too tunerish unfortunatly. But not too bad. It still sounds somewhat exotic. If I could go back I'd still buy it.

Hey TGH, I can't make the RVA C&C this weekend, but maybe one soon. By the way, the Richmond Porsche Meet is coming up the first weekend in June. Shenandoah Region Porsche Club of America (PCA)
Scroll down for info. Concours with LOTS of everything Porsche on Saturday; Autocross racing on Sunday.

maybe it will growl a bit more with cat deletes....
would it be too much to ask for a sound byte of your system?

Here's a YouTube bit of my car on the Dyno. Turn up the volume and you'll get a good idea about the sound. The car here has headers, bypass pipes, and the Borla muffler.

That dyno run sounded good j.fro….mine is a lot louder! OBX Headers, Cat Deletes, & Top Speed1 Cat Back system. No cats…no restrictions. Going to have to dyno it.

Love the sound. Haven't turned up my stereo since I got them installed. Combine that with my new Cold Air Intake - it is pumping out the ponies.

Nice car BTW.

Yes. Decibel Meter for the iPhone. While not scientific nor studio precise, it does a very good job of measuring sound for common and daily things.
