Solved difficult shifting problem

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share how I repaired a shifting problem in my '02 Boxster S. For a while I had an intermittent problem shifting into reverse, I had to move the shifter to the neutral position in between 5th and 6th and then put it in reverse. This would happen about once a week, then it became every day.

After jacking up the car and placing it on jack stands I crawled underneath and had my son move the shifter through all the gears.

I found out that the cable had popped out of the bracket because of a worn clip. after bending the clip back in shape the shifting was once again smooth.

I'm going to replace the clip, I just hope they will sell it without the cable assembly

Hey @Troop1,

Let me know IF you find JUST THE CLIP! We need a few here too but have been unsuccessful finding them without the darn cable attached!

Drive Happy!

Troop1,

You may also want to use a plastic zip tie to secure the cable to the metal clip

.
