I understand that, but someone you know personally who ends up costing you several thousand dollars in damaged car should do what's right to make good on it instead of dodging the responsibility, especially if that person was someone worthy of being in your wedding.

you would think....
phone calls are not proof of what the conversation was about. I'm sure I could call an attorney tomorrow and they'd say "Oh yes Sir you have a TERRIFIC case here! Guaranteed winner it is! Here just give me a $500 retainer and we'll get started... ok thank you for that, alright now I need another $200 for court fees or some nonsense.... alright that's good.... Oh they asked for a continuance, new court date, I'm gonna need another $500 if you want to continue this... what, you don't want to? But you've already paid $XXX, don't stop now! You're sooooo close to winning! (5 grand later) Oh shucks we lost, wanna appeal? That's gonna cost 10 grand, but you have a great case, I'm sure you'll win!"
Yeah.... no. I was landlord, rented out houses, spent my fair share of time chasing down renters, paying lawyers.... it's not as much fun as it sounds. Lawyers lie. A lot.
Actually, if I sued, his insurance might just settle, I'd get.... probably not 100%, but something worthy of my time.
i'm considering it. It's been a week. I'm still hoping he'll come to his senses and realize he's responsible for this...
Because I was just thinking about it today: he works on coolant system and within 50 miles engine blows from coolant system issues. And he doesn't think he's responsible at all. Really?
____here's what happened________
Me: Hi Mechanic please work on coolant system, there is a flashing light and it's scary
Mechanic: *tinkers* ok coolant good to go!
Me: (25 miles later) Um.... light's still on, it's getting hotter
Mechanic: Keep driving
Me: (5 miles later) Uhhhhhhh.... ok now it's at max
Mechanic: Keep driving
Me: (20 miles later) Engine's blown
Mechanic: WHY DID YOU KEEP DRIVING?!?
Me:
:ah:

Before you initiate your lawsuit, may I suggest that you review your posts on this board? Post #15 in the thread below may give the defense attorney a lot to play with:
Killed by a modified evo X
It's not your only racing post.....just sayin.......................

come on; if you haven't figured out how this guy rolls yet, it is obviously not his fault he was racing. he should sue the owner of the evo x for making him race and potentially endangering his life. we're not responsible for our own actions, are we?

First, never exceeded posted speed limit. Read my posts.
Second, there is no legal excuse for negligence. Even when people sign waivers the companies can still be held liable for gross neligence. Waivers are not a license to kill people or due harm, and I didn't even sign a waiver.

OK. Disregard my post if you didn't exceed the speed limit in keeping up with those cars you listed. If that's the case, my Prius could keep up with the cars you listed...... at the legal speed limit.
Dude..............you screwed up by not stopping when the car heated up and the engine light came on! It's as much your fault! Man up and stop whining!
I apologize to the board for being blunt but it is my non-sugar coated opinion.

I did stop, and called the mechanic that had just looked at the car 20 miles earlier. He said the gauge must be wrong, and seeing how he just looked at the coolant system the day before I believed him, why wouldn't I? He had just inspected the coolant system.
When it continued to overheat I stopped again and called and again he said gauges must not be accurate but I could drive it in later to have it checked out again. Car never made it there.
Didnt you read any of the posts? You might want to read the posts before commenting, all of this has been covered

Still, the cars were built and intended to be driven hard. There are racers here who spend most of their time at red line with heavy braking, and you don't see their boxsters blowing up.
As to where racing is concerned, Boxsters are not straight line cars and we all know that. Unless you're Ghostrider and own a Spyder, or have some aftermarket tuning, your stock Boxster (even a stock S) is going to lose to most of the machines out there. Unless you're on a mountain pass delivering Tofu, you're most probably going to lose on the straights...
... and personally, I think drag racing is the stupidest thing anyways. Any monkey can shift, and there's no driver skill behind driving in a straight line. If you can HT and double clutch, that says magnitudes more than being able to "pull off a quarter mile under 11 seconds"

I agree 100% with your post but...................a monkey CAN miss a shift and blow up his engine! He can't sue the EVO driver because the judge wont allow monkeys in his court room.
