Why is my car so hard to start after stalling out?

My 2000 boxster with a 3.4 is very hard to start after stalling. Here are a few situations the car stalled, and then took 3 to 4 tries with 15 secs of cranking to start again.

My friend was codriving my car at an autoX event yesterday and stalled the car going into 1st.

My girlfriend occasionally stalls at stop lights, and it causes a traffic jam for the next minute or so.

It starts up fine any other time...

My '04 S does the same thing. I've found that it's best not to immediately try to restart but instead wait about 5 seconds then try it. Also long as you give it a few seconds, it usually starts up first try.

i think that when the car stalls the computer shuts a valve to cut-off fuel to the engine (in case the stall is associated with a crash and there is opportunity to burst into flame); you have to recharge the fuel line afterwards - crank the engine for a bit.
