car won't start once is a while.. key problem??

OK maybe this is the place to find an answer...

I recently bought a 99 boxster... it had a dead battery when I bought it so I replaced it. (of coarse now I need to call the dealer to get the radio code)

So I began to notice that every so often I get in and turn the key... all lights and everything works but the car does not crank or start... I clutch if a few times, take key out and try again... then all of the sudden it will work fine.... this can happen if the car has sat... or if I shut it off and try it right away...

They key is one of those laser cut keys

ignition switch, or clutch switch would be the first areas to look. Clutch switch first.
