Eisenmann muffler info?

I've recently purchased an Eisensmann Muffler that was taken off a Boxster
S. It has the information, Eisenmann 9110 96/45 stamped into the underside
of the chrome tip (single oval with two internal chambers).
Does anyone know anything about this unit? Eisenmann has no information on
their website and currently makes no Boxster Mufflers.

My desire is to replace the standard "S" muffler to get away from the
dreaded 2800-3000 RPM resonance! Any help is appreciated!

Eisenman is a German manufacturer that's known for making high quality exhaust systems . However, I was unaware that they offered anything for 986 platform vehicles . Any pics ?

Not sure about mufflers but I know they at least offered a chrome tip for the 986 as I had one...

Anyhow, if you want to get rid of resonance/drone you'll have to go w/ an OEM exhaust system. Can't recall any aftermkt systems w/o drone at some RPM or another...

Good luck

They made PSE, variant 1, for the 986.

They also supplied the exhausts for the 987 including pse though gillet made the standard outlet tips. I think Porsche dropped them as suppliers in 2009.

In the past I heard that Eisenman supplied Porsche with some of it's oem exhaust systems. However, they're most know for their aftermarket exhausts. They most notably cater to the BMW crowd. Interestingly, rumor had it, a few years back they pulled the plug on their US importer for allegedly selling counterfeit versions of their exhausts .

Hi,

manufacturer for the oem-Boxster muffler was Gillet in Germany, Eisenmann became the mufflers from gillet to convert them and only the Porsche AG was supplied, no private customers... they must buy from Porsche. Same with tail pipes.

I know this, because i have direct contact to the engeneering and gillet is near to our location. Do you have any pics from this muffler?

Every exhaust drones. It's a natural occurrence due to physics involved. What's important is muffling, or minimizing the drone or the shifting of it's frequency to acceptable/tolerable levels. Whether or not you agree it's still true. Glad to know NHP minimizes it to very acceptable levels w/o muffling sound too much. OEM's make it tolerable by muffling the sound immensely.

Dansk is a separate german company that provides Porsche with oem exhausts as well .
FVD/Brombacher represents Dansk in the USA .

just looks like a tip to me.

as for the drone I honestly dont feel my NHP exhaust has ANY! When I think drone I think a flowmaster on a Chevy Silverado vibrating crap off the dash lol My car is almost silent at any constant speed.

matter of fact,my NHP exhaust is so quiet I want to replace it with something loud!

No, Dansk is only the name of jp group, which is located and producing in Denmark, there are no similars with oem mufflers.

The lookalike oem mufflers from FVD are build from another german company.

Up until a couple of years ago, FVD/Brombacher was Dansk's agent/distributor in the USA . Under reorganization, Dansk/Jp group set-up it's own USA office in California . FVD now offers an "in-house" exhaust that's made specially for them by Dansk .

The eismann p/n is just for the tip - there are two 5mm(?) allen key bolts on side securing it to the muffler tip should you want to remove it.

The muffler connected to it is OEM w/ p/n (as I see it) is 996.111.121.05. IIRC, it could work for you but depending on MY of muffler and your car, you might have to putz around w/ the hangers some.

Good luck

Johnny,

You are correct. We warehoused Dansk’s parts for about a year and were also agents just before the recession in 2009.

Thanks,
Rhonda

Hi Rhonda,

It's your old friend aka Johnny Danger with a quick question . I'm trying to settle a debate on one of the Porsche forums regarding Dansk exhausts . If my memory serves me right, FVD at one point represented Dansk in the USA . Is this correct ? I know that they have since opened their own office in California . But, I remember either hearing to reading that you folks essentially acted as Dansk's agent in the USA . Any info that you could give me would be greatly appreciated . Hope all is well !

John
p.s. Still loving my M&M headers and cats !

That's (I believe) a stock exhaust with an aftermarket tip. Hope you got it for a good deal. If you look right behind the tip, on the muffler itself, what does it say? Additionally, it appears to be a base Boxster exhaust, not an S exhaust.
