boxster s drivetrain in a custom car???

got a wreaked Baxter s and wanted to use the trans axle hoked to zo6 engine converted with carburetor for a custom project but instead of spending more $ I came to the conclusion that the 3.2 might actually do the trick. so I was wondering if i run it with open headers and put a bigger air filter and also eliminate the ac would i be able to get it up to 300 hp? the other thing that bothers me is since it is pretty sophisticated machine would i run into problems trying to get the engine running? I know i will need the computer in the setup but to what extend can i simplify things? In my mind i imagine a ton of sensors and safeties that are interconnected to run the engine????
Thanks
George

I'd suggest that you PM Brad Roberts. He sells a custom wiring harness for Spec Boxters that eliminates everything but what's absolutely needed to run the car. Then all you'll have to do is to interface the rest of your custom car to the inputs of the wiring harness and you *should* be able to get it all working.

I don't mean to make it sound simple - its still going to be a ton of work. In my experience, the hard part is matching signal types, voltage ranges (does +12vdc mean off or on? How am I supposed to know that?), etc - but at least someone else will have done the hard part in figuring out what to keep and what can be thrown out and you will have some assurance that if you can get it interfaced correctly, it should work when you're done.

The 300 HP is the simple part. Just so you know, trying to make a wrecked Boxster work again will take more time and money than just buying one that works or buying a Corvette. In fact, if you want a "project car", a Porsche is one of the last vehicle's I would think of buying. Very, very expensive to experiment with unless you have complete access to free used parts.
