AASCO releases new *lighter* multi disc flywheel/clutch

Just picked this up today (hot off the presses) and thought I'd share it (haven't shared anything in awhile)

New multi disc 7 inch Tilton setup for BoxsterS 6speed cars (a 5 speed version will be done soon, they are have the splines cut for the friction discs)

It appears they will retail for $2200 depending on who you buy through...

Pure parts/car porn.. real racing clutch *finally* for the Boxsters. I love it!!

We used this setup in Grand Am with great success, so the technology was transferred to a flywheel that fit the Boxster!!

For those of you who really want the full race stuff.. there is a 5.5 that is ready also!!!

wow... I used to run a multi disc setup in a different car and it was the best feel and grab ever. Now I just need a reason to buy one. Like tpc to come out with a turbo for a 99.

I need to replace the clutch in my racing car and did some searching here to find what the current recommendations are...

Brad, your pictures do not show anymore, and when I did a search on the Aasco site I did not find the new great kit that you reference to - could you help me find some more information, and maybe also say if this is the current best racing clutch option or is there anything better out there at the moment???

It's still available I'm working on a Suby twin disc with them right now also

I'll **try** to remember to post the pics back up. In the past we had to link to pictures on other webservers (pain in the ass) so when I sell my websites.. the links end up broken

My desktop machine has a 1TB hard drive and an external 500gig. My home server has 500gigs, and the laptop is 250gigs. My pictures are pretty well organized, but not easy to get too!!

Tidbit of info: DO NOT BUY THIS unless you have a race car. That means.. trailer only..

Way too many times people try to drive these like a street car... it doesn't work and will just piss you off when you burn through clutches!!

Ever wonder why NASCAR and every real race car you have seen on TV spins the tires when it leaves the pits? Ever wonder why you see us PUSHING or using a wench to pull the cars into the trailers? YOU CANNOT SLIP THIS CLUTCH. It is either IN or OUT. There is no in between.

I have a customer right now with a single 7.25 racing clutch. It lasted one season. He would drive the car into the trailer (up the ramp) and then he would TRY to drive it up his driveway into the garage... His setup was $2500 and it is now 100% JUNK. Had to replace everything!!

The nice part about this setup: you can easily replace the friction surface on this flywheel (you don't turn it like you do an old school Porsche flywheel) The replacement faces are$75 and take about 15min to remove and install.

Thank you Brad...

As you know, I do have a 100% racing car, so do you recommend this as the set-up for me, or is there something else (better) available for a dedicated Boxster racing car?

Also, do you have any usage reports - are they reliable etc?

But to the main question - where do I get this from and at what cost?

This is it.. no other choices besides the 5.5 Clutch setup we offer. It saves another 3lbs, but requires a different TO bearing. This 7.25 setup allows you to use the stock TO bearing and clutch pedal system.

Feedback: You will be contacting me via Skype/phone whatever when you go to install a pedal stop. The "throw" on the pedal becomes a lot less and will need a stop to keep it from bending the steel friction plate/diaphragm in the system. Not hard to do, but has to be done to keep from damaging the clutch parts. It will take a few trial/error attempts, but Tilton/Myself can explain how to adjust the clutch.

ALL Porsche factory race cars use this setup (either a 5.5 or 7.25) so we know it works, its easy to service and easy to get parts for (which is why it was developed around common race parts) I believe AP fits the same bolt pattern as the Titon (AP is based in the UK I believe)

It is Directly across the street from the Fullerton airport.

I'll warn you: the shop is loaded with Boxster's/Caymans/GT3's/Race cars

We are not the **pretty** shop. I don't have a customer lounge with flat screens (the TIG welder would burn them up.. lol)

Sorry. Couldn't resist It was in my first post of the thread. I don't **believe** the price has changed.

I'll check tomorrow morning our time and post back here.

I sell them. The company who makes them is 15min down the street from me
