Cheaper than buying a 986 in good condition and changing out the engine to a 3.6. So yeah, I guess since I have been Porsching quite a few years, with a past 911SC, two Boxsters (currently the one in my Avatar) and also currently a Carrera 4S - over the past 20 years, I keep a pretty good handle on what's available. Any other questions?
Buying a quality 930 Turbo, doing proper maintenance, and keeping it on the road will NEVER be cheaper than a 986. And learning to properly drive the 930, with a single turbo lag and no AWD like the 993 will be a challenge. But the 930/993 will hold its value significantly better than any 986. So, maybe the net-net ownership experience could be similar.
