Price to replace RMS, IMS & CLUTCH...
My 03 Base 2.7 may have the dreaded rms/ims problem. It's going into the shop on Friday for the diagnosis. I'm bringing it to Powertech, a local indy shop here in NJ that specializes in Porsche cars. They quoted me $2,700 plus tax to replace the rms, ims and clutch. Does this sound OK or too high?
Thanks,
Al

since the cost of the parts (retail) are in the neighborhood of $1100.00 -$1200.00 the rest would be labor which would be higher at the dealership. So if these guys specialize in Porsche and they do it right, it's not a bad price.

For my version of this procedure we charge 3,500.00 all inclusive to include dyno time, pre-eval, tensioners and etc. This is for all parts and labor.
2,700 is a fair price, when I see shops competing for this kind of precise work, it makes me wonder how long it'll be before one of them goofs it up.

You may also need a new flywheel, the last 2 I've looked at the rubber section was totaled. List price is around $1000, but they can be found for $600 to $700.

How does one check the tensioners? I'm throwing a lot of new parts into a used motor and want to cover as many issues as possible.
Can any of the guide rails be replaced without removing the cylinder heads?

Just had my IMS & RMS replaced at AutoEngineering for $2250. Apparently they do a LOT of volume in IMS replacements.
