Radiator mesh grills - flow area

I am installing mesh grills to protect my radiators on my 2000 s. I am planning on going with 60% open area mesh. Is this enough for a street car?

This guy says probably not...

If you are talking about a flat piece of metal with holes drilled,
(as in that which every honda/acura has covering their grille, bumper, hood, etc...)
this will adversely impact airflow.
And, we boxsters don't have much airflow over the radiators to spare.

My box came with a pair of mesh grilles covering the rad inlets,
but they were a woven wire, so very little surface area,
and far less wind resistance than a flat piece of metal with holes.

As a general rule,
if something is listed as "universal" fit,
assume they mean honda/acura.

If it looks like window screen, it will work fine. In fact, that is what I have been using for four years: aluminum window screen from Home Depot...
