MAF Part Question...

A parts guy Sunset Imports asked if my car's ECU was updated or not for the newer MAF,he said there are two kinds of e-gas models available....does anyone know anything about this? I was just under the impression that there were two; non e-gas(97'-99') and e-gas(00'-04')????

Yes, there was a change for the e-gas models.
If your car wasn't updated, you either have to be lucky and find an older MAF, or you have to update the car to accept the newer MAF.

If your car already has been updated, you can only use the newer MAF.

Pull your current MAF, and look at the part number on it, and find out if it's the older one, or the newer one. Your car might have been updated.

BC.

He asked you that question because the early model egas cars (2000) needed an ECU update in order to use the updated MAF, but yours being an 01 (mine's an 01 too), doesn't need the ECU update, and can just use the newer MAF ending in 2501 as a drop in.

To double check this, if your car's existing MAF ends in 2400, you'll need the ECU update. If your current MAF ends in 2500, you can just drop in the newer MAF that ends in 2501.

I just got mine from ********************************Az recently, and they're cheaper than what Sunset sells them for...

Yep, that's the one. The one on top won't fit your car, as it is meant for the non-e gas cars with the cable throttle. Oh, and I already installed it in my car, and the car's running grreeeaaaat!

Yeah, what Sunset really needs to do is get with the program and hire someone to build out their Internet online parts sales website. Right now, you can only call them for parts, and I like to order stuff myself through a webpage like on Suncoast or ********************************Az because then you get a tracking number when they ship.
