Clock and oil indicator
I have a 2000 986 and the clock and oil indicator display disappeared--does anyone have a suggestion what might have caused this?? I have read the service manual with no help. don s.

Did you check your fuses...

leds may be out
It might be the leds located behind the instrument panel are out that illuminate those items. I have my odometer and trip meter functions with the same issue. They work, they are just not illuminated. The manual has instructions on how to fix.

It is the dash bulbs that have blown, easy fix, remove hazard light switch (pulls out, remove little filter thing on other side of dash, there are torx head bolts behind each of these, remove, dashboard pod is now free, disconnect plugs 3of, bulbs are now accesible from back, readily available from Halfords etc.

On my 986, the bulb is actually fine. It appears to be a problem with the contacts. It will randomly go out, if I give the dash a thump - it comes back on for a day. I went through about 5 bulbs before hitting the dash in frustration one day and it lit back up again!!!! hahahaha
I dont bother now, next time I take the gauge cluster off I will take a close look at the tracks that the globe sits on and see if they need a clean or some sort of fix. Sam |
I have a 2000 base Boxster. 2.7 All worked on this until the last month or two. I noticed that the level indicator and clock oil did not work.
