Clutch issue?

I purchased a 2001 Boxster S earlier this year and finally got a chance to take a road trip this weekend. After five hours of highway driving I got into very heavy traffic, bumper to bumper, after about a half an hour in this traffic I felt the cluch engaging and staying lower and lower to the point it did not work and I had to get off the road. Not knowing much about this vehicle after a while I just reached down and pulled at the clutch, it came all the way up and has worked fine after that. Any suggestions on what happened? Did this happen because I was unable to release the clutch all the way for a long period of time. Any help will be appreciatted. Brian

Garage
Sounds like you need to have the clutch slave cylinder fluid (brake fluid ) replaced & bleed to purge any moisture & air. Might as well do the same for the brakes also since they share the same master cylinder.
