2.7 , 2006 Boxster upgrades

Can anyone recommend an engine upgrade for the 2.7 that's actually worth doing?
What's the next level up from stock?
All the tuners want to install an EVo filter, an ECM flash, and a BB exhaust.
What works?
I don't usually believe someone who is trying to sell me with out separate proof.
Anybody out there with real world experiance?
thanks guys

If you want more performance trade your car for an S. There are very small gains to be had from exhaust and tuning, though you will gain better throttle response and a different (notice I used "different," which means better for some and worse for others) exhaust note.

As another 2006 2.7L owner

Ive been quoted the following:

-BMC air filter---------$110
-GIAC flash------------$900(?)
-Fabspeed exhaust--$1600
Labor-------------------$800

total for 15-20HP---$3400 or roughly 200/hp

From Edmunds:
Sale price for 2.7L 2006 boxster--roughly $25K
" " 3.2L " " " $30K or $125/ additional hp

Adding more HP after the fact is always more expensive/HP. Besides the bigger engine on the S, you get bigger brakes and a 6spd.

this is a very slippery slope; I'm thinking the airfilter, AWE tips and flash for $900, totaling $1600 would get you 10-15HP but no gain in sound.

I also own an 06 2.7, and will sell it for an S in a few years. The average premium for an S over the base is 5,000 or so, and trhe larger engine adds torque you can't get from the 2.7. IMHO, it's the cost-effective option.

Thanks guys

Thanks to all of you for the input. you guys certainly know the car and you saved me some $$ and heart ache.
I believe the S is a heavier car. I drove a low milege loaner (tipt) for a few days and didn't think it was as "light " or as balanced as mine. Heavier engine, wheels, etc.
I would pay 5 k for a 2006 S with 40 k on the clock..if I could find one in the same conition as mine and color (Black Basalt/ Sand Int.)..fat chance. Mine's purrrfect, no kiddin'.
And I know the owner is a freak on taking care of the paint, engine etc. and drives it conservativity(most of the time).

I would need to go up to a 2008 to get what I have now miles, condition, warrantee, and pay 50 k

I'll have to keep dreaming for now

Yeah, I'm going to wait about 4 years, then look for a 2010 S , 310 H.P. sounds like fun!
