I have a close friend in Queensland, I have been convincing him that he should focus more on the M96 Porsches more than the older cars that he works with now.. He came here last July and trained for a month.

I'd love to make the trip, perhaps we could get several owners together and I could borrow some shop space and do enough procedures at once to make it worth the trip for me ???

Smile

If that sort of thing is possible, I will happily send my car to QLD for you to work on. Then I can fly up & drive it home.

How many vehicles would you require to make this a viable proposition for you Jake?

I'd need to do at least 4 retrofits.. I'd rather do a total of 6 to make it worth my time away from the shop and to recover from the 26 hours in the air!

Want a deposit now?
I am sure we could get 6 people together for IMS retrofits.
What is the going price for them in AUD$.

What the charges will be would be dictated by the shop that we'd be doing the work in.. I'd rather have a chassis dyno available for before/ after comparisons..

Costs would be around 3K US for my full service, including tensioner cleaning/ replacement and internal inspections.

Get 6 cars together and I'll start looking for a place to work. I can bring all the parts and tools with me. Once the 6 cars have been rounded up we'll get deposits, probably just enough to cover my air fare, the rest we can do while I am there.

I should have one of my engine assembly classes while I am there, I have several Aussies interested in attending them here, there would be better.. But I would need an M96 engine out of a car for this.

Jake, you are obviously very busy with your work over in the USA. Do you have any preferred time frame for coming over here? Eg Christmas etc or is there another time when business is quiet.

It sounds like Steve is a starter for the IMS upgrade & I am also.
Can your mate who works on air cooled Porsche's get another four starters? I would also be interested in assisting with the work on my vehicle if possible.

PS Don't drink the beer in Queensland it is spelt XXXX & tastes like cats P
Though we lost the State of Origin to them (again)

January would probably be best.. I have scheduled M96 engine assembly classes in November, December and February..

I'd think we can find 4 more pretty easily in the next few months..
