I really can't say enough good things about the customer service that I received from Rhonda and Florian during the process. I called one evening at closing time and Rhonda was kind enough to answer my call and continued to talk with me and eventually take my order. The software/cable was shipped out promptly and arrived within 2 days. I pulled the existing software from my car on a Monday evening and the following morning I had an updated file to upload to my car. I just installed the software this evening (without a single hiccup) and went for a test drive and of all the power mods (cold air intake, plenum, full exhaust, underdrive pulley) this is the only one that I actually believe I can feel a difference in the ol' butt dyno. I felt that my car (02' Boxster S) had very good throttle response ever since I put the cold air intake on but now the car wants to JUMP off the line and start running through the RPM's! I wonder if this was the final piece that brought all of my modifications together?
It was an absolute pleasure working with FVD and I am extremely satisfied with their service and product. |

I jumped on this offer and have been running the new software for a couple of weeks now. Very good stuff. It was very easy to install and Rhonda at FVD Brombacher was extremely friendly and helpful.
Throttle response is improved and there is more power in the mid range. Before if I was cruising at 60 mph or so and wanted to make a quick pass I would have to drop it into second and then do a quick shift to third. Now I can just go to third and there is plenty of power to get me up to speed fast. I might have to start looking into some of FVD Brombacher’s exhaust products. Todd |
TUNED 2001 boxster
Worked with Rhonda and Flo and FVD, A+ experience... car was tuned within 24hrs of sending my file to their server, can't wait to add some upgrades and retune for a little more juice :) . I have not dyno'd the car and didn't drive it/own it for more than two weeks before I tuned it so I can't say where I am seeing gains but I will tell you 110mph in 4th gear feels sweet at 5400 rpm ;) Thanks FVD!

This all sounds great, but I always wonder if there's a down side. As a newbie to this concept, are there any negatives to this, other than the price?

Hmm i wonder if they can do it with my 3.6L engine with reflashed DME.

question for the FDV folks
first: congrats on getting such great reviews for you products and services form forum members.
I'm wondering if you think I'd get incremental gains with you flash from my current setup which was done by techart after adding their v3 performance kit (headers, exhaust, enlarged throttle body, etc). I've done no other significant mods to the car (at least, on the engine) since then. that mapping was done in 2002 and I've never had a problem with it...just wondering if you think you could drive add'l performance benefits over and above their mapping. |

Unless I am mistaken, I suspect that your current re-flashed involved nothing more than a generic program designed for a 3.2 s. Moreover, I would be surprised if TechArt was even involved in the process. The difference with the FVD software, is that the program is tailored specifically for your vehicle based on the modifications it received ect... That what makes the FVD software unique. p.s Any good photos of your vehicle ? It sounds like a nice "machine". |
Johnny Danger,
Thanks for posting the FVD Brombacher special on this board (and a few others ;) ). I placed my order last week, received my cable and software on Wednesday, sent FVD the stock file on Wednesday night, and received & installed the tuned ECU file yesterday afternoon. Nice gain in throttle response, and with the Fabspeed bypass pipes I put on last weekend, the car definitely pulls harder. I doubt I would have coughed up a grand for this software, but for under $500, it was a worthwhile purchase. |

Also, how are there ECU flashes in comparison to FVD? I have intake, headers, Full exhaust and am looking for maximum benefit from these mods. how is Softronics reputation compared to FVD? wouldn't mind the extra software but FVD's price is in enticing. Help  |
I havent used the Durametric syuff but I think it allows you to clear more codes than a basic scanner. Like airbag/immobilizer codes and others maybe.
But what do I know, I only have 20 posts... wait, now I'm at 21!!!! On my way to being an expert!!! |

Read the reviews on 6Speed and Planet 9 regarding all of the positive experiences members have had with FVD and their products. Their commitment to customer service is unsurpassed, and their products all perform in an exemplary manner. Also, in all due respect, I suspect the reason why you keep getting CEL's is because of the NHP exhaust components on your vehicle. I know several others who are experiencing the same as a result of that brand. |
