Oil Pressure & Temperature Gauges

Have any of you added an oil temperature and/or oil pressure gauge to your Box?

If so, any suggestions for gauge manufacturer, cockpit placement and hookup would be appreciated.

Are either/both of these parameters available from the OBD-II port?

Thanks,
Mark

Actually, oil temperature and pressure are not available in OBDII.

http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/brockway-engineering-r1000-obdii-multi-gauge-porsche-996-9904-p-68352.html

Here's one such Porsche specific unit. They are no longer made, but I have one that I've used in our test car to monitor values.

I have a spare that I was planning on listing on ebay, if anyone is interested.

I'm pretty sure Durametric does allow oil temperature, not sure on pressure. Might be specific to model for pressure (996,997)

Gauges

I added an oil pressure and voltage gauge in place of the CD storage tray in the dash. I got the faceplate from: http://www.9xauto.com/911.html I painted it with rustoleum satin black, which makes a pretty good match to the dash plastic.
I got the gauges from egauges.com.
I chose the VDO "Vision" series. Just make sure you get the stud mounting kit, as the spinlock mount that comes with that particular type of gauge does not fit in the space in the dash.
For the oil pressure sender, I got the 996 sending unit which operates roughly in the 10-180 ohm range.

Thanks Art. That looks like a good solution.

Sorry to be reviving an old thread but I am looking for a faceplate similar to this and the website listed is shut down. Does anyone know a good place to source single din gauge faceplates? I tried to google it but got a lot of them for other cars not for Porsche though.:ah:

egauges.com looks like it might be a solution.
