MAF Confusion!

I have a 2000 S that has been lacking low end torque. It was suggested that I swap out the MAF. Well...

Currently installed in my car is 986.606.125.01

Pelican parts contacted Porsche with my VIN # and was told that I should be using 996-606-123-00

Reading Mike Focke's Page
Mike's MAF Page!

My MAF may have been changed and the ECU re-flashed to accommodate the new part.

Is there any way for me to tell if this has been done without the service records? I wish to replace the MAF but want to use the right part...

I have a Durametric scanner if that will help...

Without a PST II/PIWIS, you cannot access the reflash data...............
