And $$$

I can't go buying the engine and transmission from some rare porsche that had only a few cars produced. I need a reasonable and common engine.

Dude for the price it's going to cost is a Porsche engine worth it? You can put in a TT engine set up for less than the price of a Boxster engine and you'd have a lot more stuff to play/change out down the road for more ponies.

I REALLY REALLY wanted a mk1 gti with a mk2 2L 16v (non-digifant) set up back in high school, that would have been fun! Man I had techtonics, Nuespeed and New Dimesions brochures out during every class...

Any number of Turbo S engines from 944s and 968's are around and there is an aftermarket that services these engines with upgrades and spares.

Good luck

I drove an old '77 Rabbit in college. My girlfriend (now my wife) lovingly referred to the car as Satan's Chariot. The unibody was so weak that the floors would shift and creak when you changed gears. I often said the reason I went to college was so I could afford something nicer than my Rabbit. I'm not sure I understand the Rabbit fetish, reminds a little of the TV show Junk Yard Wars. I admire your full speed ahead and damn it all attitude.

Best of luck and be sure to post photos!
