Engine / Transmission Compatibility

2003 Boxster S:

Is the engine from a wrecked automatic (Tiptronic) compatible with the 6-speed manual transmission?

Go ahead and laugh, but I'd just like the answer...

Yes, but....

The engine cores are the same. There are some things that are different, but if you are going from 1 "blown" engine to another, your builder should understand the diffs and be able to canibalize the parts from the old, to the new.

Good luck.

Seems like you had to develop the courage to ask that questions LOL I'd like to think there are no stupid questions on forums but i have been "yelled" at or made fun of before for asking general knowledge questions. I usually love the "go look at the owners manual" answer. Its the best!

But to answer your question the engine are the same

Yes, change the flywheel and mechanically the engines are the same.

The wire harness is different, swap the entire harness from the old engine onto the new and it'll swap right out..

Ok -- Thanks for the answers. I'm also wondering why Pontiac Grand Prix GT engines come up when I search for Boxster engines on Car_Part.com. I haven't been able to confirm (through internet searches) that this is a compatible engine....
