Boxster won't turn over.

My '98 Boxster which ran great for years is now giving me a double-dose of trouble. First the top got stuck in the up position. When I unlatch and push open button, nothing happens. I checked switch at latch, checked parking brake switch, and even checked rocker switch on panel. All good, but still Nothing. No motor noise, nothing at all. My last best guess is the relay. Thoughts on that?

Secondly, and even worse, after a dead battery, car won't start or even crank. All instruments come on, and accessories work, but starter won't crank when i turn key. I replaced ignition switch, tested the relay and put in a new battery. NOTHING. Please help, I'm running out of ideas. I wanted to check starter, but I don't even know how to get to it now.
