Tranny Issue

Howdy all,

New Boxster owner, new on forum. I've got a 97 Boxster with a tiptronic. When in automatic, after some hard driving or a while at interstate speeds, it downshifts VERY hard when I decelerate to stop or take off ramps or whatever. Sometimes it does it from 4 to 3, sometimes in 3 to 2. It shifts so hard the whole car jerks. Any help with this situation would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Maestro

Hey Teacher,

How many miles are on your boxster? and how many miles ago to you think the tranny fluid and tranny filter were replaced and how many years do you think the fluid that is it the tranny right now has been in the tranny?

If you think its been along time then you probably need to change both the fluid and the tranny fluid filter... cause you will get hard, late and agressive shifts when the fluid & filter are past there prime.

I was told at purchase that the 75,000 mile services had just been done, and I've put about 1500 miles on it since. So if the fluid and filter are part of the 75,000, then they've probably been done. I'll get the stuff replaced regardless, but what else could it be if that doesn't fix it?

At the very least, I would do the fluid and filter on the car. See if that helps.

hmmm, you'd have to look in your maintaince book to see if it says tranny service is apart of the 75k service. If its not that, im out of useful info
