Flashing Odometer / Milage Digital Readout

Hi,
Idon't know if anybody can help but i have a 1998 LHD Porsche Boxster 2.5, a fault has just occured on my dashboard, the digital readout for the Odometer and Mileage flashes intermitently, i have been informed that the only cure is a complete new dashboard which is extremely expensive for just a flasking readout, Has any body experienced this or any ideas,

The first thing is to replace the bulb. Each of the 3 LCD displays has a bulb behind it. If the bulb burns out then you cannot see that display. Maybe you just have a flaky bulb.

You have to remove the instrument cluster to get to the bulbs on the back. Removal has been covered many times.
