Please let me know what differences you experience (ie noise, more power, etc...) Looks like you went with the entire system.

I put a Billy Boat exhuast on my 1999 2.5L last year. The first time my wife road it in it after it was installed she said "Sounds like you need a new muffler". It"s loud but cool. Makes the car sound a hell of a lot faster than it is and sounds great at the track. I 'd recommend it to anyone. Seems to be a little quicker than it was.

I finally have the Maxspeed headers and exhaust installed. It sure is loud especially at 2500 rpm. I don't mind it though as I try not to leave it there. For not having a ton of money to throw at it I am quite happy. There are others with this same setup here too.

Do you think it added some power or just a louder sound? Also, how much did it set you back for parts and installation? Thx, Jon

Great news - I just bought the PSE for my S. Now I can tell the better half I didn't buy the most expensive exhaust I could find! Honey - look at all the money I saved!

Can you explain the hack? Got pix?
I have a factory muffler that I'd like to try this on because the muffler I got from Che is giving me headaches with all the drone/cabin resonance between 2-3k rpm.

I would throw a $100 bill on the table and bet that RUF system has the most annoying, migraine-producing cabin resonance one could imagine.

This is a great little hack.
I ran a pipe I think 1 inch, that bypassed the muffler.
So some of the exhaust gasses ran around the muffler and where un muffled. SO the sound is louder.
This is my video of the PSE on an unmodified 2.5
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEPv_l6GBfw
Here is a link showing the directions for this hack:
http://www.ppbb.com/boards/ppbbphp/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=ARCHIVES&Number=1067764&Forum=ARCHIVES&Words=pedro%20sport%20exhaust&Match=Entire%20Phrase&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Old=1year&Main=1067764&Search=true#Post1067764
Out of all of the muffler systems for the 2.5 I have heard the Pedro SE is my favorite. The only reason I removed it is that I placed the tips from my straight pipes on my oem muffler and the tips looked like ass. I came across a great deal on a maxspeed muffler and jumped on it.
The maxspeed muffler is too quiet for me....I guess something about have turboes inline makes the exhaust quieter. Since its quiet for my taste I will work on a new muffler hack.
Back to the question at hand. The PSE is a great simple $100 hack. I would try it before spending any money on a muffler.
Power gains...possible but do it for the sound.

I think the hack idea is worth trying. However, I got the Dansk and am pretty happy with it. Not as loud as some of the others out there. Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't Porsche use Dansk as a supplier? The exhaust almost looks like the PSE but without the funky tips. Dansk also offers the PSE OEM tips on their exhausts as well.
Having said that, I still think there is "some" resonance on my exhaust at the lower RPM levels. Especially when I compare it to my friends factory PSE on his 02 Carrera.

The headers are what added the power, the exhaust maybe a little. The resonance is right up there. After the EVO install the intake is very aggressive sounding too and actually helped cut some of the muffler resonance a tiny bit (noticed it right away).
The Maxspeed muffler is going to give you a resonance sound like some of the more expensive mufflers so it is a good way to see if you can tolerate it without breaking the bank. However, I spent a lot on having Musante Motorsports put it back together because I ran into sheered off bolts in the block, broken taps and some other nightmare problems. They ended up putting studs into the block, attached the headers, fixed up the reset of the exhaust and put the car back together. After all was said and done it set me back $1300. Those guys build Porsche race cars so I didn't mind spending money with them. Great folks.

How would you PSE hack the Maxspeed?
