MAF Question

this is a repeat post from renntech, fyi

Hi
Okay, I'm having a tough time finding this part online. The MAF serial numbers are:

0 280 218 009
996 606 124 00

This part is for the 2000 Boxster.

I can't find this part number online ANYWHERE. I find a bunch of MAF's, but I'm not sure if this one is discontinued. I've figured out (I think) that its the old version of the MAF.

Now the question is trying to find one! The Parts Bin doesn't have any of these numbers on their website. I even called Bosch, but the reps haven't gotten back to me for a while.

Any help would be great. If I can't find this part, how much should I expect to pay to get the DME reconfigured to work with the new sensor? I'd like to get this problem solved as soon as possible.

-Kevin

Try searching the archives on ppbb.com - there are several posts on MAF part numbers. They basically say you should replace with same, but several versions are available. You may need to consult a dealer for the proper replacement.

The parts bin link is for a 1997-1999 2.5 throttle cable car and not for a 2000 2.7/3.2 e-gas car. It will not work on an e-gas car and there is no reprogram to make it work.

They have it listed as B3130-70627. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=2627&hl=B3130

I do see they have it listed as a 2000, which is e-gas. Wish they would use Porsche or Bosch part numbers. The only way to be sure is to call and have them give you the Porsche or Bosch part numbers, and compare with the numbers on the sensor that is in the car.

I called parts bin up and asked, and they said for my car, it is the B3130-128499. Your numbers are right on, Jeff, and that's the info that I was looking for.

Scott, you are exactly right, they list the same part numbers for almost every model year, which is the prime reason I started this post. I wan't sure how much "interchangeability" there is with the parts.

Good info on this thread, I'll keep you posted as to whether or not it actually works in the car. Thanks!

B3130-128499 should be 996 606 124 00, with the Bosch number 0 280 218 009. That is what you said is in your car now, so it should be a direct swap with no reprogram.

Nice how a $159 sensor suddenly became $284.
