Boxster Oil/Coolant Problems :(

The other day on the way home from work, I flipped on the heater and began driving home. Heater wouldnt come on. I turned it off, left it alone, and then turned it on and it was fine.

But then the car started overheating and I was stuck in traffic so it took a bit to get over to a station. Coolant everywhere in the trunk, although i think it was more from the coolant/steam spraying everywhere . Coolant tank in trunk bone dry.

I filled with water and that got me home. Thats problem #1.

While checking out where the coolant is leaking from I noticed that when I turn the car on (engine running) oil pours out the bottom. Doesnt drip..a steady pour. It pours off the oil filter. The second i kill the engine it immediately stops. Obviously its leaking only when theres pressure.

At first, I was really hoping that maybe the oil filter seal gave way or the plastic filter cover was damaged. I replaced the filter and seal and made sure it was on good. Checked where the filter cap screws on for damage. Nothing.

Still pours out.

Looks like the oil pours from directly atop the filter cap? Any suggestions?

Im hoping its just the oil pan gasket or something easy to fix.

No coolant and oil pouring out... Sounds like some sore of head gasket issue.
I would certainly get it to your mechanic asap.. via tow truck.

Is the oil filter on placed on the engine correctly?

How is it pouring out? I don't see how it can just pour out if the oil filter cover is in place.

Yikes, pull the protective off that covers the engine and inspect from the top. Better yet, flat-bed to your local service shop, don't take any chances trying to troubleshoot when oil and coolant is pouring out of it. Sorry man, hate it when crap like this happens

Flat bed that boy now. Now sense messing with hit and miss when your engine is at risk.

My guess is a bad head or head gasket.

yeah..ill definitely send it to the shop after the holidays..

Ive never worked on a boxster, but fairly familiar with general auto.

My first thought was a cracked block or gasket.

However, the oil is pure..no water,coolant or anything. There is no white or blue smoke when it fires up. No knocking or any unusual noise. And it doesnt drip..it POURS. Not as much as when you take the oil pan plug out...But closer to that then a drip. Completely quits when the engine stops. After I wipe the filter cap and above. Not a single drip afterwards.

From my experience with my engine blow... I couldn't find a signle dealer parts guy or Porsche Service Tech who had seen a blown head gasket on a M96
