Update on "engine noise on 05 987"

Thanks to all that responded with suggestions. I did call 1-800 PORSCHE and after that call the dealership shop diagnosed the noise was coming from the transmission. A new transmission was installed and the noise is gone. Additionally PORSCHE agreed to extend the warranty to 2011 and 100,000 miles! Life is good!

Now the "check engine" light is on with a message to take the car to the workshop.

I'm starting to wonder about the reliability of this Boxster. My 2000 Boxster never gave me any problems for all those years and almost 90,000 miles.
