Yes, you're correct about the tax being paid to the town. However, its not considered a property tax, but rather a duty that is imposed for the "privilege" of road use, wherein funds are used to reduce the number of "tolls" and to maintain infrastructure . Any any case, its a tax that nevertheless feels like a noose around the necks of the working class !

** Initially the valuation is calculated @ $25.00 per $1,000 based 90% of the original
MSRP of the vehicle. Subsequently, the tax is calculated based on the vehicle's
depreciation .
