Red face 2000 Boxster 2.7 li engine

Hi I'm new to this forum,
but i remember Mike Focke from 25 yrs ago when i bought my new 2000 Boxster...benefitted a lot fm his advice.....however i did not keep up contact with that forum after a few yrs.....i now still have the 2000 Boxster ( lives in the Garage!) .. and now need some inputs...

1. I have not needed to do winter storage in the past, since i lived in Dallas, TX till 3 yrs ago when i moved to the Hudson Valley, NY. If snowing outside, is it sufficient if i start the engine and run it for 5 mins once a week? or take the car round the block( if not too much snow ) once a week ?
2. I have a Porsche battery maintainer ( basic model) plugged in most of the time......recently, the maintainer red light doesn't go off even after 36 hrs... it used to work before .... battery voltage seems to be OK ( 12.4 )... wd appreciate any suggestions......
