New Owner - 1997 Boxster

Hi All,

Well this is my first Porsche in almost 30 years! First was a red 1974 914 when I was 18 years old. Picked up this 1997 base, Arctic Silver with 117,000 kms on it (I'm in Canada). Car is in great overall shape, just needs a good detailing...and removal of some poorly applied Plasti-Dip. It's already tucked away for winter, but I'm already planning my enhancements. Picked up a new roof assembly with glass window (aftermarket), so I'll have the original roof for sale in the spring if anyone is interested. Also found some great centre caps (maybe aftermarket as well?). Just have to wait out the winter!

Where did you find the center caps? And at what price?

I found them on Kijiji here in Ontario. $45 for a set of four. I haven't seen the guy advertising since I bought them, but he did seem to have more.

Welcome! What part of Ontario are you in? If anywhere near SWO - would highly recommend joining the PCA UCR (PCA UCR | Upper Canada Region of the Porsche Club of America). Lots of fun runs and rallies and all sorts of good stuff.

Thanks! I'm in Orangeville, so not too far from Listowel. I'll take a look at the PCA...

Nice! BoxsterSteve and I have cruised a few of those great roads around Orangeville. Lots of good roads in the area - we usually get out for a few runs - we post up here so keep your eyes open.

If you can point me to him I'd appreciate it. Center caps are getting really hard to find at reasonable prices. I want a good set that I can put on the car when going to meets and using the old ones for trips and AX.

I got some from this guy direct from China,

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4pcs-lot-Black-Grey-Sliver-Black-with-Gold-75MM-Wheel-Center-Cap-Badge-Emblems-original-quality/32734735219.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.0.GDUnAp

they look exactly the same as the ones pictures above (they even say "made in italy" on them too, haha), about half the price, but of course shipping takes forever.

I would not give my credit card to any Chinese merchant. Ecry time I do it I end up wuth fraudulent charges. After the last one I only use PayPal, and no more fraud.

You won't have any problems with Alipay. I've used them for years, bought many items, including large peices of machinery and never experienced any problems. On the contrary have always had really good experiences.
