New Owner in Atlanta, GA

I just acquired a 1998 Boxster. I've had some nice cars before, but there's no doubt the Boxster is special -- I'm thrilled to have it.

Thanks everybody.

I'm having a few dings taken care of today. I don't know much about the maintenance history, but I put it in the shop right after buying it to repair a faulty driver's side door lock, and a faulty SRS.
They replaced both belt buckles and harnesses; I'll keep my fingers crossed that the dash light doesn't return.

The rear brakes didn't seem to be working, as evidenced by the lack of shininess of the discs. The previous owner had spray-painted the calipers and the mechanic claimed the paint had ruined the pads.
I looked at the pads after they were removed and they seemed normal to me. Anybody ever hear of such a thing?

PS This car has some sort of chrome package; does anybody know what the option was, or called (besides "chrome package?"

First thing to get on is the brakes!! All 4 need to be working before you drive the car much. I've never heard of spray paint messing up the pads, but I guess anything is possible. If they did a sloppy job painting them, maybe they gummed/clogged up the calipers that somehow that is effecting the operation of the brakes. I would start with a fluid flush, and see if you are getting good brake fluid floe to the rear calipers.

As for the "chrome package" that is almost certainly going to be a dealer add-on. I don't think Porsche offered such a thing on the early Boxsters.

Looks like a great car! Beautiful interior.

Those wheels look to be from a newer Porsche. I'd expect the headlamp surrounds are an add-on item, either Porsche or aftermarket.
