Boxster Virgin

Hey everyone just received my first Porsche that has been passed around my family. It's a 00' Boxster 2.7 5spd with the sports package. I'm not sure of everything that that entails but I believe it's the M030 suspension, bigger brakes, and the BBS Sport Classic II wheels. The wheels have a little curb rash on the lip but I am hoping to have the lip machined then powder coat the wheels. The seats have recently been reupholstered with black leather, off-white inserts, and white french stitching. So far I have enjoyed this car and always admired it growing up. I just recently de-snorkled and love the sound. I read that you should take the battery terminals off for 30 minutes to reset the ecu?

Anyways here are a few pictures:

Uh oh... P-cars are now being exported illegally to AL ;)

Welcome to 986forum

Congrats on the new to you car - looks sharp and well kept. Curious to see the new seats w/ stitching.

As for de-snork, you'll be glad you did. No need for battery disconnect to reset ECU... it'll learn just fine.

Enjoy your Boxster!

:)

On the way home from a trip to the Tail of the Dragon, I refueled in Talledega and screamed out "I hate NASCAR!"

Seemed like a fun thing to do until a local figured out it was me. Base boxsters can really accelerate fast when they need to!

Congrats on your car. Nice photography!

I noticed you dont have the PORSCHE sticker on your calipers. You can also get the Brembos as well.
Those are fairly cheap @ $6 for a set of 6. 2 just in case you mess up. found on ebay

Your welcome.
Also look into the DEPO Led Tail lights.
IMO the best mod to make your car look a little newer.
They can be found for about $160 new (ebay as well)
Good luck and keep us updates on your progress.
Make sure to take lots of pics.

I am new to the forum and new to Boxster ownership. What is de-snorkle, and de-amber?

schnellman 06-28-2013 03:22 PM

Desnorkeling has to do with removing part of the air intake tube located behind the air intake vent on the driver's side of the car.
Deambering means to replace the headlight units with ones which do not have the amber section along bottom, and switching the tail lights to ones which do not have an amber section, and switching the side marker lights from amber to clear or smoked.
You can find specific information on this forum via the search function.
Oh yeah -- Congrats and happy Porscheing.
