n00b Boxster pwn3r

So I am about to take delivery on a 2000 Boxster S...

$25k for a 2000 S w/16k miles. Any advice? first steps to ownership? things to know about the Porsche world?

BTW, glad to be here and hopefully I can learn a plethora of new things.

Hmmm. Let's see. Start saving your cash for repairs.

If you don't spend it on oxygen sensors or a Mass Air Sensor (MAF), you'll drop it on new rims, side skirts, a louder exhaust, etc. etc. etc.

Let the modding begin!

Those are the words that a new Porsche owner does not want to hear...

Explain further...

These cars are generally very reliable but there are a few "issues" that are somewhat common. These would include the rear main seal (RMS) leaking, coolant overflow tank cracks, etc. The search function on this board is your best friend for more info. The other thing that I have found is that parts and repairs are just more money than for other makes. Just wait for your first $200 oil change (I started doing them myself). All that aside, these cars are very satisfying from a drivers standpoint and the fun I have had far outweigh any cost that I have incurred. Welcome!!
