sure. BEcuase '97-'99 qualify for SpecBoxster racing with the PCAS. Newer cars do not. Even though the 986 was relatively unchanged from '97-'94, only those cars manufactured prior to '00 qualify. So a "roller", or a rough car, or one with salvage title, or any of those things that make a street car "less desirable" looks like a good basis of a race car to us, if it's pre-'00.

But if you're looking for a street car 986, I'd go with an '03 or '04, if for no other reason than the glass rear window. And I'd get the 'S' for the brakes & the HP.
Regardless, I'm one of the guys who'll tell you the 986 will NEVER be "collectible" in the sense that you should look for just the right car and hold on to it. Get the one you can drive the wheels off of. that will ALWAYS be the best thing this car has going for it. Cheap Thrills.

    Hello Maytag

I recently saw a post of your

"FWIW: For me, if it were a '99 or older, I'd be all over it, as I suspect many others might be as well. But an '01 roller has zero value to me. Even at $2k, it's about $1900+shipping too much for me."

Can you please help me undersatds why 99 and earlier models are more desireable?

Im looking to buy a 98-99 and was interested in learning more please?

    Thanks

    MIke
