pro can you take a look at my thread in perf&tech and let me know what you think? I am having doubts about my timing. I followed the thread about DIY cam timing and the marks are all 100% (it looks it anyhow) but I am not getting any of the 3 cylinders on 4-6 to fire. Spark and fuel are there, but no temp from the exhaust. It doesn't make any metallic noises, or banging like a piston-to-valve, but it just wont run.

After about 10 seconds of idling cylinder 1-3 manifold was warm to the touch, cylinder 4-6 manifold was still cold.

what am i missing?

First, let me say that the way things are going; the Girl Scouts are going to kick some Philly butt...... What an embarrassment that team has become.

We don't do alignments ourselves, we farm them out to a local race car chassis shop, who unfortunately is very difficult to get time with (even for us). That said, western PA is a big place so I would need some better idea where the guy is in order to suggest who he might look at. In addition, if the poster is westsiderkg, I to have also seen the posts and I think that there is something wrong with that car based upon the fact he seems to get the brush off from some shops with lame excuses. Sounds more like they take one look at it and say “Oh ****************! Tell the owner we can’t do it.” These cars are simply not that hard to set up.

Sgt Brad, I have about 10k miles on the 3.6 I built for my car, I drove it up to Monterey for the Rennsport reunion last Oct. It is a blast to drive & much easier with all the extra torque. I have another 3.6 finished & started on another one. Exhaust pipe size is designed to maintain the highest velocity of gases passing thru the pipe. If the pipe is too big it slows velocity & you lose torque. The stock Boxster S exhaust pipe size is fine for street driving except for the converters. My 3.6 is 220 cubic inches with 6 cylinders which is close to the size per cylinder of a 302 V-8 & you don't want 2" header tubes on street 302.

i saw a while ago that you had a 3.6 you had built based on jake raby's class. i'm not interested yet in an engine upgrade, but was hoping to get your impression on two things.
1. have you run the 3.6 or driven a raby 3.6? there seems to be only limited experiences with complete raby builds for the boxster and since it's very spendy, i am curious on actual experiences.
2. rather than start a thread i wonder your thoughts on why the primary and exhaust tubing is so small on the porsche. i would have thought that 2" would be minimum for best performance, yet even on my aftermarket b&b exhaust it seems to be much smaller? do you subscribe to the school of thought that the tubing diameters restrict flow and power?
