R.I.P. Speed Yellow :(
While picking up the new Danger Mini yesterday, I had occasion to check out some Porsches next door. Much to my disgust, Porsche's fastest and most exciting color ever, Speed Yellow , has been replaced by some abomination called "Race Yellow". It looks like the cross between a tennis ball and a safety vest !

The colour on that 991 is nasty...
It looks like something you'd need a prescription of antibiotics to clear up.
Check the rust on the rotors. How long has that been sitting in the same spot?

That yellow doesn't pop at all. The hue kind of reminds me of a dull yellow very popular for GM cars in the 60's called "saffron yellow".

He's referring to a car I purchased decades ago, needed "a bit" of work:

It's far less vile than the three Porsche cars at my local dealer with Goodyear, POS tires. Not only don't they look good with their high sidewalls, they suck in performance.

Don't forget Danger. For a small fee, Porsche will paint it to whatever color you want.

Rather, I don't mind it.

And what's up with that half-arsed 981S side stripe?

My DD before the Speed Yellow Boxster was a Mayfair Maize 1967 Firebird 400.

Hmmm I like the 981 but would be interested to a side by side pic of the race yellow vs speed yellow.

I restored that 68 Oldsmobile, changed the color to pearl white since I couldn't grow to like that shade of yellow, believe me I tried to. They used it under different names on Vettes, Chevelles, various Olds and Pontiacs, it was very popular then.

Actually, since most rotors are cast iron, they rust almost instantly. If you wash them, by the time they're dry, they usually have a tad of rust on them. Especially if washed in the morning/if its not sunny outside, when the water doesn't evaporate instantly lol. Try it at home
Haha, but I don't mind the 981 in race yellow. But that 991... ew.

The new yellow is too flat. Even freshly detailed it has no depth.
Needs more cowbell like Ferrari managed:
