That seems high for the 15k service
I was quoted $400-450 by Clair for the 15k service. I'm not sure if having an independent would cause you warranty issues. Makes sense that if something broke it wouldn't be fixed under warranty by an independent. I don't think you can rotate left to right as the tires are directional. It's very typical of both Boxsters and 911 to have the rears wear faster than the fronts. Some people actually change just the rears first and when they wear out again replace all 4 tires. The rears seem to about twice as fast as the fronts.
