I think I'll use this as instructions on how to get my GPS antenna in the right place.
I mounted my GPS antenna (magnetic) to the top of the 2 din mounting cage. Obtains signal well and no need to run wires up to the front of dash.

Hi!
Some questions from gothenburg:
Where did you find the reverse signal..
Was it in the factory plug?
Did you connect to the reverse lights?

Did you get any static noise from the car?

Found the reverse signal.. It was a black wire with a blue stripe in the original head unit plug.

Thumbs up Nice Write Up

Nice Job, I am collecting parts now to do this mod also. This will definitely help me out.

I have a 2000 S, was torn between nav and keeping stock but I really want to add modern functionality.

I want to order a US sepc Pioneer AVIC 8202, but I can't tell if I can install European maps. If anyone knows I appreciate a post. Been googling and searching pioneer website can't find an answer. Even contacted crutchfield and got all we have are US radios, I pointed out GPS receiver is not different in Europe but need to know if you can purchase an upload a European map set.

Hey all,

Best of luck with your installations. Mine is still kicking some while after. I'm still super happy with the mod.

There are always several ways of doing things, and you should only use other guides as hints but search for your own take on things. Thats whats creativity was given to us for

Regarding european maps i unfortunately do not know, but my take on it is that i'd rather have carplay any day than any of the more hardcoded gps features.

Regards
Crib

I am finishing up, ended up with a single din prs80. Installing amp this week, Alpine pdx9. Used hertz mille 3 way components. Have an installer working on converting a cabriolet bose sub to hold an 8” pioneer. Could stop now and be happy, sounds killer already.
