Boxster 986 hard top mounting bracket/plate removal.
986. 561.653.04 and 986.561.053.00
Hi I have sourced a replacement for the broken mounting plate bracket, I have to replace a damaged left side hard top mounting bracket/plate part 986. 561.653.04 and 986.561.053.00 porsche (typical) but I have sourced a replacement for the broken mounting plate bracket. I have contacted my local Independents and they have quoted me just to access the plate ,removal of the softop roof between 4-6 hours labour, before they can access the plate to remove it and bolt the new plate on!and replace the roof. Has anyone on this forum replaced one of these?Do you need to remove the roof? If that is the case, is 4 hours labour really realistic, or are they taking the piss.Is it a straightforward enough process? Cheers. |
Yes, the hardtop will need to be removed to replace this part.
The carpeted panel or panels behind the seat must be removed to access this area. 4-6 hours seems excessive. Cannot find your second part number. |
Remove hardtop, push seat full ahead, remove two phillips screws in rear carpeting located near the corner. Remove to expose bolt, use allen key to back off bolt, you shouldn`t have to completely remove bolt. Remove and replace receptical tighten bolt, replace the carpet. I`m thinking an hour and a half. For someone who has installed them before, half hour tops. You can get the kit from Pelican.
